The two-story addition to this attractive Williamsburg colonial home gives the owners room to spread out and enjoy a new family room with marble-and-granite fireplace, vaulted coffered ceiling, hardwood floors, and adjoining powder room.
Upstairs, the new master bedroom features the cozy warmth of a second fireplace; while outside, an inviting cedar deck with custom-milled railing beckons.
Because the master bedroom bears on the ceiling of the family room below, a heavy steel beam had to be installed to carry the load. And creative solutions were also required to allow the two fireplaces to share one chimney.
